February is a month of love. It’s also Gum Disease Awareness Month, so no time is better to remind you to love your gums.
At Sabal Dental, we want to keep your mouth as healthy as it can be. That’s why we are sharing some gum health tips with you today.
Do More Than Brushing
You should be brushing your teeth daily. However, you also need to clean between your teeth and gums if you want to remove food particles, harmful bacteria, and plaque from the place that your toothbrush can’t reach. You can use dental floss, flossers, or water flossers for this simple, short task once per day.
Get Checkups
No matter how well you brush and floss, professional dental cleanings and exams should be part of your oral care routine. Visiting us a few times each year can go a long way toward preventing periodontal problems or catching them in the early stages.
Take Action at Signs of Trouble
Healthy gums should look pink, feel firm, and don’t bleed. If your gums look red, swollen, or do bleed, contact us about gum disease treatment. Other signs of a gum infection include constant bad breath, pimple-like bumps on your gums, receding gums, and loose teeth. Your gums may or may not feel sore.
