Restoring Her Smile

I came to Sabal Dental to get a crown. Growing up, we didn’t have dental insurance, so as an adult, now we have to pay for it, right? Literally. I had a very bad cavity in my tooth, so I went and got a root canal. Sabal Dental helped me with my crown.

Getting the crown has been more of a confidence knowing that my teeth are being taken care of. As an adult, you realize how important taking care of your teeth are. As children, you just don’t make it a priority. For some reason, we didn’t grow up with dental hygiene. Yeah, definitely it’s given me confidence knowing that my teeth are taken care of.

When I was in middle school, I chipped my tooth and I had an old filling, old – I’m not too sure what you call it, a filling on my tooth. It’d always been off shade, but it never personally bothered me. Then little did I know it was bothering … Other people could tell the shade. When I came in here at Sabal Dental, they said, “Oh yeah, let’s go ahead and take care of that.” That wasn’t something I came in, but now it’s given me more confidence to smile more.

Level of quality here has been truly genuine. They were here to take care of my teeth and making me feel confident in my smile. When people are looking at me now that there’s a huge change, I know that if they’re looking at my teeth, it’s not the off-coloredness that I had at one point.

Replacing a Missing Tooth

One of my bridges I had since I was in the military, and over time there was problems with one of the anchoring teeth, needed a root canal. I had the root canal done at another dentist office. What happened was that tooth, the anchor tooth that they did the root canal on, basically it broke off. When I came to Sabal Dental, they were quick to explain to me what I needed, and the doctor laid out very clearly what options I had. She told me that the choice I made was the right choice; she didn’t try to steer me into any one of the three choices. I made my own decision, and she was real happy with the decision I made, and she did an excellent job. I can’t say that enough about her, that how she treated me and made me comfortable, and I’m real happy with the way the teeth look afterwards.

Living with bridges is not easy. It requires extra care. You have to floss differently than you do with your regular teeth. You have to be more aware of the type of teeth you have and what it can lead to. You have to take care of your gumlines and your anchor teeth; otherwise it could lead to other problems. That’s all explained to you on how to care for the teeth. They demonstrate to you how you can floss underneath the bridges for the best effect.

What I tell my grandchildren is, “You don’t want to end up like me with a bunch of bridges, so take care of your teeth when you’re younger. Follow the proper care, brush regular, and go to the dentist for your checkups when you’re supposed to. When you get older, it’ll pay off.”

A Whiter Brighter Smile

Oh, everybody just wants a brighter smile. I don’t really think I had issues prior to this, but it was just nice, and I’ve had many, many compliments on my teeth that because of the whitening, it’s a much brighter smile, and I think people notice that. They will fix you up to where you can have this and have it for any special occasion. I usually do mine prior to the holidays. I do mine prior to summer, any kind of special event like that is definitely, it’s great to already have the molds, but it’s always good to have the gels that you can whiten up the teeth just a little bit prior to any kind of holidays or special occasions.

Here at Sabal Dental, it’s right from the very beginning, when they take you back, they explain everything to you. You know exactly what procedure they’re going to do before they do it. They explain why they’re going to do it.

I’ve never had a bad experience one time. It’s always been great here. Like I said, everybody is very professional, and you always feel like you’re in good hands. They always have the X-rays, they always explain everything. They show you in detail everything that you need to know, and it’s in simple, plain English so that you can understand it. I’ve never had a problem at all understanding exactly what the procedure was going to be and what it was going to entail.

A Wonderful Dental Crown Experience

My husband had visited, and I went to a dentistry across town. And I was in pain, called my dentist. No, they couldn’t see me. Called here, they could get me in the next day. Come, the hygienist was here, she done a cleaning because they had a slot open for that as well, and so she’s the one that done the assessment of what was going on with my teeth.

We jumped right on it. I had the cleaning that day, come back two days later. And Dr. Bhatti, we saw the broken tooth, the one that we knew was probably causing pain. And she got in there, started working, fit me for a temp crown. Then we pulled the one. I want to say probably three or four days later, I don’t know the calendar, we went ahead and pulled that wisdom tooth out that was next to the one that was causing the pain. And since, I have a brand-new tooth.

I did feel comfortable with the quality of care. I felt very educated. I mean, she described the procedure: “It’s going to be a tug, and be a little bit, and it’s out.” Dr. Bhatti, she explains everything. And she also asks you, “Do you have any questions?” She makes you feel very comfortable.

Comfortable Procedures

When I first came to Sabal, I was experiencing tenderness in one of my teeth, and it was like if I drank something cold, it bothered me. If I drank something hot, it bothered me, or if I chewed down hard, it was tender. When the doctor examined me, he explained to me that I needed a root canal. Actually during the procedure, he was very patient because it was a very difficult case, it was way in the back of my mouth, and it had I think four distinct separate roots that he had to get to to actually do the job. It was a long procedure, but he was very patient with me and explained to me and told me what he was doing and why, and he made me as comfortable as possible. I’m a very difficult patient because of previous experiences at other dentists. I don’t know how to relax in a chair.

So it’s very difficult on the doctor or the hygienists that are doing their work. And so when they did the root canal, I know it was difficult for him also. Since he did it, I haven’t had any problems, and I really noticed that overall, I feel like I’ve benefited overall … how would you say, health. Because if you have unhealthy teeth, it can lead to other problems with the rest of your body, and because of the fact that I’m trying to keep up with my teeth even though I’m an older person, I’m doing good, and I feel pretty healthy.
