Dentistry came up for me when I was a lot younger. I come from a family of engineers, and it was kind of always expected that everyone would follow suit. My grandpa, uncles, father, and brothers are all engineers. But I guess maybe when I was younger, I just liked the idea of doing something different. So I arbitrarily chose dentistry. But in high school, I had several leaders in church that happened to be in the dental field, and I decided to spend some time shadowing them. And from there, my interest in it grew into something that I would seriously pursue. Seeing the transformation of patients who would get a cosmetic procedure done or even things like fillings, rebuilding tooth structure, it just was really interesting, especially when I was younger. Oh, the most rewarding part for sure is seeing a patient satisfied with what you did that day. Whether you gave an injection, and it didn't hurt them, and they came in with a lot of dental anxiety, and they left happy – that’s the most rewarding part for me, is just patient satisfaction.
McAllen native Dr. Anthony Salinas became interested in dentistry because many leaders in his church community happened to be in the dental field. He spent time shadowing them and developed a passion for the profession. He realized that he, too, wanted to have an impact on people’s lives like his mentors did on their patients’ lives.
Dr. Salinas attended McAllen High School and graduated in the top 25 from Lamar IB. He then attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he made the dean’s list from 2012 to 2015 and graduated magna cum laude. He was accepted into Texas A&M College of Dentistry, where he received a general dentistry program award. After earning his dental degree in 2019, he began practicing at Sabal Dental.
Dr. Salinas has a strong relationship with his patients here because he is willing to go above and beyond to make sure they get the service they need. His goal is for every patient to walk out of our office with a confident smile.
When he’s not caring for patients and meeting new people at Sabal Dental, he enjoys spending time with his family, keeping up with the latest technology, and traveling to new places. He looks forward to serving the McAllen community that raised him.
