Keep Your Gums Healthy

So with gum disease, it's incredibly important to have someone help you treat it with gum therapy. Because what people don't realize is when you have active infection in your mouth, you're swallowing all that bacteria, and it has more effects than just swollen gums and pain. The brushing, you can be losing the foundation for your teeth. And so what we can do for you here is we can diagnose the level of gum disease and then direct you to the best care, whether it's gum therapy, a regular cleaning, or even getting you to a specialist. We'll prioritize what needs to be done to get you back into health and then maintain that health.

By catching and treating gum disease early, we can help you:

  • Reverse it before it destroys your gum tissues and jawbone
  • Lower your risk for serious related health problems
  • Prevent tooth loss and other costly dental problems
  • Maintain a clean mouth and fresher breath
  • Reduce tooth sensitivity and painful chewing
  • Preserve your attractive, healthy smile

If you think you might have gum disease, don’t wait! Call Sabal Dental for solutions at 361-256-5958. We’re open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, with extended hours until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays for more convenient scheduling.

Trust The Expert Care Of A Skilled Periodontist

At Sabal Dental, you will receive expert care from our board-certified periodontist. A periodontist has specialized training in issues that affect your gum health. Our patients appreciate the advantages of choosing a dental practice with a gum specialist on staff who can meet the unique challenges of gum disease.

If we see signs of periodontal infection during one of your routine dental exams, we can provide gum therapy that includes a deep cleaning technique called scaling and root planing. During this treatment, we will:

  • Gently remove plaque and tartar buildup, as well as bacteria under and around your gumline
  • Smooth over the roots of your teeth to prevent bacteria from returning to those areas

Gum recession treatment is also available to restore healthy tissue in areas of your mouth that have been significantly damaged by infection. With a gum graft procedure, or the innovative Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique performed at our Calallen office, we can bring your gums to a cleaner, better state of health and preserve your beautiful smile!

You don’t have to be nervous about your dental procedures with us! Not only does our periodontist use Oraqix anesthetic and dental lasers for more comfortable gum procedures, but he can also provide dental sedation to help you feel completely relaxed during your treatment.

Protect your oral and overall health from this dangerous infection. Call Sabal Dental today at 361-256-5958 for effective gum disease treatment in Corpus Christi.

Common Questions About Gum Disease Treatment

Is gum disease treatment painful?

Your gum disease treatment should be pain-free. Your dentist or hygienist will use a product called Oraqix that will instantly numb your gums so that you don’t feel any discomfort during your procedure. We also offer inhaled sedation using laughing gas that will help eliminate any dental anxiety you might be feeling.

What causes gum disease?

Bacteria in your mouth feed on food particles that get trapped in between your teeth and under your gums. Over time, these bacteria can multiply and create inflammation and pockets of infection below your gumline. Left untreated, these pockets can become painful, causing bleeding when you brush or floss and eventually leading to tooth loss.

How long does gum disease treatment take?

For most gum disease treatments, it will take about an hour. Your dentist or hygienist will carefully remove all the built-up tartar and plaque from around and beneath your gumline so that your gums can begin to heal. Depending on your circumstances, your treatment time could be longer or shorter.
