Replace old crowns with Dental Implants Read Transcript
Replace old crowns with Dental Implants

He did an implant for me. I was really worried about it, but it's perfect. They had to work on my sinuses, on top of teeth, and I told him, "You know, I really trust you when you're getting in there and manipulating more than just the teeth." They're fantastic, very professional.

So I had a crown on that tooth, and it fell out, and so I thought, "Well, we'll just put it back." It broke off too close to the gumline, and so they said, "No, these are your options." He had more than one option. He didn't say, "This is what you have to do," of course. He said, "Here are your three options. Pick which one you want." And I picked that one just because I just thought that was the one that would work best for me.

He was so great. We did it over three visits. I joke with Minnie that she hammered my face because they had to lift my sinuses, which is something difficult. I said, "Minnie, you know I really trust you. I let you hammer my face." We just joke about it. It's always very comfortable. Even that dramatic process didn't feel uncomfortable. It was easy. So they just make you feel comfortable enough to get everything done.

So yeah, it was fine, and it's great. I don't have any trouble. And then they're on my case, too. "Make sure you're flossing." They're making sure that I'm taking care of what I need to take care of. It was an easy process.

Her Daughter’s Straight Smile Read Transcript
Her Daughter’s Straight Smile

I know with my daughter’s … we did sealants so that she prevents her from getting cavities. She was struggling with that. They're even doing braces for her, and I know that they don't do that for everyone, but hers wasn't very difficult.

So we never want to leave Dr. Thompson for anything. We enjoy being here, and we knew that that was something coming up first. He did a, she had a crossbite, so he fixed that for her early on.

And then when it was time for braces, he said, “It's not going to be … it's probably going to take 10 months. If it was something that was going to be longer or maybe more difficult, maybe I wouldn't be able to do that for you.” But he says, “I'm able to do her braces if you're willing.”

And my daughter was ecstatic because I had told her we're going to have to go somewhere else, and she was disappointed that she was going to have to go somewhere else. And so when we were sitting together and he said, “I can do that for you,” she was, you should've seen her face. She was super happy.

So of course, we're going to stay. If he is able to do the work, we're going to stay here. We're not going to go somewhere else.

Life's busy, right? You have a lot of things to do, and so if you can keep things consistent. For me, consistency is better, so I'm not having to go to five different appointments or three different appointments. If you can just get everything done in one place, that's really helpful for me.

We're busy. She's busy with sports. I'm busy with my job. Being able to just come to one place and have one appointment instead of two different places and appointments, that really helps.

Restoring his Smile with Dental Implants Read Transcript
Restoring his Smile with Dental Implants

I am closing in on 70 years old, and these teeth are, too. So when the tooth became unsalvageable, then we moved on to doing dental implants, and I've had a couple of them placed. It's a several-month process of preparing the base and then putting in a post and then finally doing the mold and getting the implant placed. Never had any problems with any stage of it. I mean, I guess my mouth is doing its part by making sure there's a nice bed of bone there and healthy gum around it.

The work that he has done has been, as far as I can tell, flawless, never had a problem with those. From my experience, I would say it works well, but apparently there are some things that Dr. Thompson would have to find inside the mouth, whether you had the bone that was ready to accept the graft and the gums and whether you might benefit from some other work first, like one of the things he did with one of mine was to do a bone graft to help create the place for the post to be placed.

Getting Out of Pain Read Transcript
Getting Out of Pain

About 10 years ago, I was working and in the middle of a work shift, I noticed I was having pain in just my lower sinus region and around this area. I thought it was a sinus infection, and I later went to go to a general doctor. I was referred to an oral surgeon, and the oral surgeon did a panoramic X-ray, and then they did I think a CT scan as well around that area. And it was discovered that there was a maxillofacial, I guess like a lump or a cyst or something.

It ended up being a keratocyst in this region, and that was retaining fluid, and it was causing pain all over here. So lower nasal region down to the roots of the teeth around this area were just shooting pain down the roots because of the fluid retention. So in order to have the procedure done, I needed root canals on these teeth.

So I was referred to Sabal Dental under the care of Dr. Chad Thompson, and he was fully aware of the situation and very professional, very sweet, very caring, very gentle in his approach. The biggest thing, takeaway for me is that was my first major dental procedure that I've had in my life thus far, and he's just really a seasoned professional. Again, just extremely knowledgeable in the field of dentistry. He creates an environment where it's like talking to big brother, and someone that you really feel that you can trust that he's going to take great care of you and make sure that he gets the job right the first time.

And again, during the procedure I felt very little pain. In fact, I felt maybe even like a tickling of the roots as he was removing them. I didn't even feel any pain at all. He took really great care of me. His staff, his assistants were just fantastic, super sweet, super caring again. Again, I can't say enough great things about them. They're fantastic.

A Comfortable Procedure Read Transcript
A Comfortable Procedure

When I had my first consultation with Dr. Chad Thompson, and again, I had root canals done in the front region of my mouth, he ran a panoramic X-ray, and during the X-ray he noticed four little guys hanging out for a while. He had mentioned that he would like to remove my wisdom teeth. At that time I wasn't experiencing any pain or any issues whatsoever. He just felt as one ages, the wisdom teeth tend to settle in a little deeper, thus making it harder for them to be removed.

So at the time I was in my mid 20s, and Dr. Thompson had mentioned to me, "Adam, it'd be a good time for you to consider removing your wisdom teeth." I just said, "Okay, let's go ahead and do it,” and he said, "Yeah." Because as people get older, from what I understand, they tend to crowd, they tend to shift and whatnot. They can cause some pain in the back molar areas of the four teeth. So that's what led to the removal of the four wisdom teeth.

He made himself available to me if I felt any discomfort. I had some swelling in this part of the lip a few days after. And what happened is apparently I was still numb in that area. When I was asleep one night, I happened to bite down on myself, and I thought it was a reaction from the removal. So I called him up. I was like, "Hey, Dr. Thompson. This doesn't look right. I'm not sure what's happening. I have a lot of swelling." He's like, "Come see me. I have an opening right now. Come see me." So I went to see him at his Alameda office. He's like, “Oh, no." He's like, "Actually, this is what happened." He's like, "This can happen to some people when their mouths are still numb." And especially when he removed that back molar or that back wisdom tooth and it caused this to kind of go numb.

He's like, "In some cases you could bite down yourself." And he's like, "You really did there. Don't worry. I'll get you some anesthetic or some topical ointment to help out with that." He's like, "You'll be fine." He's like, "Just be careful." Yeah.

Again, as I said, within a few days, swelling went down, all was well. So any issues post-procedure, he's very open and available to assure the client that all's going to be well and what steps to take in order to ensure that that will be well. Again, he's been fantastic.
