I have been going to Sabal dental for over a year now. I went in today to have some Crown work performed. Assuming you don’t want to give up salsa, pasta, coffee, tea, soft drinks, red wine, and many other things, your best bet is to be proactive about managing your smile. Teeth whitening won’t work on fillings or on other dental restorations like crowns and veneers. When possible, we recommend whitening prior to receiving restorations. You’ll want to avoid eating or drinking for at least four hours after your whitening treatment. Just sip water during that time. In fact, during the first 48 hours, we recommend you have a diet of “white” foods, like bread, pasta, yogurt, rice, milk, turkey, chicken, etc. The reason is, your teeth are porous after the whitening and more susceptible to picking up stains. So, to achieve the best results and to experience less sensitivity, adjust your diet those first couple of days.
